Cody Hodgson just not ready yet!

cody-hodgson Cody Hodgson was sent back to Junior yesterday to play for the Brampton Battalion. He won’t be allowed to be recalled to the Canucks until their season is over as I am to understand it.

I think this is fucking fantastic and everybody should agree with me. This kid is 19 years old and played over 120 games last year and has a sore back which has hampered him all summer. His speed is affected along with his abilty to battle for the puck. Another year down in junior to get back to where he was is a good thing.

Personally I wish he was allowed to be sent to the Moose but thats another topic altogether.

The positives in this move means that he should be a lock to be with the team next season and if he’s not he gets sent to the minors to gain more experience. That is a good thing since that means the Canucks get him for longer during his prime years as another year means his free agency gets pushed back farther.

It also means the Canada’s World Junior Team gets him again for this years tourney. Even though Tavarez got the MVP in last years, Hodgson could have easily been given the honour as he scored 16pts in 6 games. That will be exciting to watch especially with the huge buzz about the Canucks ‘09 first round draft pick Jordon Schroeder playing as well for the Americans.

Cody will be a Canuck in the future and hopefully if the hype is warranted he will be a Canucks for a long time to come. He is the future and right now with our roster bursting at the seams there just isn’t a spot for him. When he comes in he needs Top 6 minutes and there is no way in hell he’s gonna get that this year.
