Canucks beat Wild 5-2

van_minFirst things first, the flu had decimated me for the last week. Before that the wife and kid had it so it’s been awhile since i’ve been able to write my thoughts on the Canucks.

Ok usually when Vancouver and Minnesota play against one another I groan. There is no other team in the league that I hate watching play more than the Wild. Coach Lemaire is no longer there but his fingers are all over this team. Maybe in a couple of years they’ll be able to do a Run and Gun offence but for now they are still the same old Wild to me.

That being said I really enjoyed this game. So much so I did no flipping back and forth to the Thursday Night Comedy shows I so enjoy (early east coast channels).

Raycroft is settling in nicely as our everyday goaltender since Luongo went down with a broken rib. Recently re-signed Matt Pettinger popped his first goal in his second game back with the ‘Nucks. But the best moment had to have been Darcy Hordichuk’s blast. I think Raycroft summed it up best.

“That’s a shot he takes every day in practice and at 10 a.m., you don’t want that high glove,” chuckled Raycroft.

“I give him grief every day, but I don’t know if I’m going to be able to do that tomorrow. It’s going to be higher and harder now that he has a little confidence. Listen to him back there. He’s Wayne Gretzky.”

It was a fun game to watch.

Next up the Dallas Stars Tonight!

What’s that I smell in the air, a Peter Forsberg rumor?
