canucks_sabresWell it’s been over a month since my last post on our boys in blue. I just re-read it and boy was that doom and gloom on my part, even though I did say that I would reassess after another 7 games. Well it seems that the Canucks went 13-5-1 and one since then and are currently tied for first in the division and 4th in the conference. WOW!

Last night the ‘Nucks beat their expansion cousins the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 in a great game that wasn’t ruined by Referee Kerry Fraser’s last game in Vancouver. Yes that’s right Kerry Fraser will not ref another game in Vancouver. fraser Kerry a long time thorn in the Canucks and the Fans for that matter is retiring at the end of the season, I for one wont miss him but he did do the Canucks a huge favour last night by disallowing an obvious goal late in the third as he called Paul Gaustad for cross checking against Ehrhoff in the goal net. Kerry seemed confused as to why he blew his whistle but the result was that the Goal did not count and the Canucks went on the Power Play. Coach Lindy Ruff was furious but by the time the third period rolled around Kerry rediscovered his apparent dislike for the Vancouver Canucks and proceeded to give the even up Penalty to Ryan Kelser for a phantom elbow on the monster Dman Tyler Myers.

Well now that brings the Canucks record to 9-1 against the Eastern Conference, their only blemish being the woeful performance agaisnt the lowly Carolina Hurricanes earlier in the year, to be fair it was one of those early morning games on a saturday. The Canucks dominate the Eastern heavyweights. In the past month we’ve beaten Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Washington so this upcoming first half of the 14 game road trip shouldn’t be a problem for our Canucks.
